Lindam

Weaning Range

The Brief

Following the completion of other successful projects for Lindam, we were commissioned to develop a new range of feeding products for children of weaning age. The challenge was to identify new opportunities in the market and improvements over other weaning products then available to enable a unique offering and if possible defendable intellectual property.

The Process

The start point for this project was to research feeding habits of both children of weaning age and their parents. We observed both the behaviour of the parents and the challenges they faced and also the way in which the children handled and used the tools they were given. This work led to the generation of ideas that were evolved through the Concept and Design and Engineering stages into unique new products and a dynamic new look.

The Result

When launched the Lindam Weaning Range offered a host of brand-new features and ideas. A mashing area in the feeding bowls to help parents pulp foods, one handed grip to give better control for the parent, split loop handles on the drinking cups to prevent small hands getting pushed through and trapped and a new unisex colourway which also helped to hide the usual staining caused by tomatoes and other natural colours. These well considered new ideas helped the range become a commercial success and led to further design projects in collaboration with Lindam.
