Ugo Fix Gentle Catheter Clip

Another device designed by us for the Ugo Urology range for Optimum Medical is the Gentle Fix Catheter Clip. This non-sterile medical device is designed to comfortably adhere to the skin, providing fixation for a two-way indwelling urinary catheter. Utilising our knowledge gained from years of developing plastic products, we were able to design a single piece catheter clip featuring a living hinge, articulating multi use snap closure and soft over moulded grip feature.

The resulting design solution features a rotating clip on a separate base that we developed to hold the catheter away from the skin as it rotates. This enables the catheter to move naturally reducing the risk of pain and discomfort. The soft over moulded grip feature allows catheters ranging in size from 8Ch to 20Ch to be effectively secured for up to 7 days continuous use.

Following the briefing supplied by Optimum Medical we were able to propose multiple concepts for the device design before moving into design and engineering and providing final 3D CAD production tooling data for use in manufacture of a multi cavity over moulding tool.
