The Balance Brush | Trig Creative

The Brief

We were asked to create a design for a stylish, ergonomically considerate barrel brush developed specifically for blow drying. The issue with all other barrel brushes on the market is that the length of the barrel means sections of hair wider than the nozzle of a hair dryer is coiled on the brush, meaning some hair is not exposed to the heat and remains un-styled.

The Process

During our Concept Generation phase, we looked at how to make the barrel the perfect size and shape for blow drying as well as exploring how to design the handle to put minimum strain on the wrist and maximum comfort when gripping. As we progressed through the Design and Engineering phase, we calculated the exact centre of gravity of the brush to give perfect balance and specified materials that would not only give the right weight and feel to the brush but also give it a premium, quality look.

The Result

Combining the tactile characteristics of wood with the strength and weight properties of aluminium and steel, the Balance Brush looks, feels and performs better than any other barrel brush on the market. With perfect 50:50 weight distribution it sits perfectly in the hand and puts minimum strain on the wrist whilst its compact head accommodates the correct section of hair for blow drying with outstanding results.
